Fifth Showing - Vancouver - May 31, 1999

The counterpart of the AIGA in Canada is the GDC, or Society of Graphic Designers of Canada. Their Vancouver chapter invited us to put on the slide show on May 31, 1999.

The invitation (above) was designed by Matt Warburton, president of the Vancouver GDC chapter (who is himself a stamp collector, specializing in Canada). Its actual size is about 8-1/4" x 4-1/4". Below you can see how it looks opened out. The stamp is Scott Canada 244, issued in 1938 to recognize Vancouver as Canada's most important Pacific port.

My nametag from the event.

I was too lazy, and enjoying Vancouver too much, to get my souvenir covers prepared and cancelled on the day of the show, so had to settle for the day after. Once again it took many hours at my computer to design and print the envelope, confirming my sense that I should leave the artwork to the artists.

Here's a more mundane effort - note that Canada Post is more casual about where they allow cancels.
