TRAINS ON U. S. STAMPS

Currier & Ives Prints
(Models for Scott US 1897A)

Sc. 1897A - issued 5/20/82

The publicity for the stamp above (Scott US 1897A) said that its model was a locomotive on a print by Currier and Ives.
I found these four candidates - which of them do you think was used?
(The first three images have been flipped to get all the locomotives facing the same direction as the one on the stamp.)

Snow Bound

Route to California

Prairie Fires

American Express Train

It's pretty clear, I think, that it was the last of these images, "American Express Train," that was used as the source for the stamp at the top, but it's interesting how similar the four are, as though the same artist painted them all, and used the same locomotive as his model.
