Mount Tamalpais (2,571 ft), north of San Francisco across the Golden Gate, has always been a tourist attraction - the views from its peak are spectacular (weather permitting). Even before the Golden Gate Bridge was built (1937), residents and tourists took ferries to Marin County, and then trains to the summit. The pamphlet below provides an entertaining glimpse at what it was like in 1924.
