INDEX and SCANS of POSTER STAMP BULLETIN, 1936-1951

11/1/2011 - I recently learned that the National Poster Stamp Society of the 1930's through 1950's published a newsletter called the Poster Stamp Bulletin.

You may have seen this cinderella the Society produced to advertise itself.

Hoping that the Bulletin would list the Certificates it issued to poster stamps of the period, I sought to obtain copies.
The Western Philatelic Library in Sunnyvale, CA had a fairly complete run, so I borrowed theirs, scanned them,
and have put them online for your entertainment.
That was in 2011. Since then I have managed to obtain scans
of all but the first and sixth issues.

Unfortunately, I did NOT find the list of the Certificates I sought,
though there are occasional mentions in the PSB that a certificate was issued,
or that the Society endorses a particular stamp, and while the early issues
of the PSB seem like a legitimate newsletter of a real collectors group,
with articles and letters and announcements, the later ones are little but
publicity for The Poster Stamp Publishing Company of Chicago,whose ads fill
every issue, so it appears the Society and its Bulletin became simply a front for the Company,
which presumably printed all the poster stamps for which it issued the Certificates.
I don't suppose that matters, but somehow it bothers me. Whatever.

11/5/11 - I found a reference (via Google Books - image above) to the creation of the PSB by the Mid-States Gummed Paper Company,
which has an ad in every issue, so presumably that company and the Poster Stamp Publishing Company are one and the same.

07/29/2013 - Walter Schmidt loaned me two copies I was missing (Vol 2 #1 and Vol 5 #6) - THANKS WALTER!

11/15/2014 - Barry Martin, a collector from Dallas, TX, found information about the Red & White Stores stamps in my PSB pages (Vol 2 #2 page 5), and his efforts to help me fill in the gaps in my online collection led to the Collectors Club of Chicago, which had a bunch of the missing issues in their library (nine, to be exact!). Ed Waterous, their librarian, sent them to me to be scanned, and I have added those to the listings. They are as follows: Vol 1 #4, Vol 5 #5, Vol 6 #1, Vol 7 #2, Vol 10 #5, Vol 11 #s 2, 3, and 4; and Vol 14 #5. Visit the website of the CCC HERE.

02/01/2018 - Collector/Dealer Bud Hahn (eBay handle 49er_bud), sent me a huge stack of PSB issues, including four I did not have. Also, I learned today from the website of the New York Public Library that Volume 17, Number 3 was the final issue, and I now have that. This reduces my missing issues list to one, possibly two - I do not have the very first issue, and I do not have Volume 1, Number 6, which may or may not exist. I have added Bud's contributions as PDF files, which will have to suffice until I find time to list their contents in detail. I have to say, their content is of interest only to the hardcore poster stamp historian.

02/04/2018 - Collector Ed Pieklo sent me some supplemental material, such as six issues of the PSB Chatterbox Edition, which I have added to the index below as pdf files. Their content is of little value, in my opinion, but now you can be the judge. According to Ed, these were published five times a year (skipping July) starting in 1941, to fill the gaps between the issues of the main bulletin. Ed also sent a membership letter, and a set of priceslists, which I have scanned as well, for whatever they may be worth. Links to them are at the bottom of this page.
