Walking out onto the beach, I had this view, one of my all-time favorites (I've been here before, though never by this route!).

I walked north along the beach, and near the upper limit is this stairway, called the Sand Ladder. It didn't look like such a big deal.

 

Up close, it offered some challenges, but what was I here for, if a little climb was going to scare me off? Onward!

 

The view as I climb rewards the effort.

 

At its top, the Sand Ladder meets Lincoln Blvd, the highway that skirts the cliffs.

 

I could have continued on Lincoln Blvd, but this new path beckoned me back downward.
