WIPA postal card - 1933

ATA HB entry:

6/23/1933 Postal Cards - WIPA, 1933 (Inscribed "CONGRES EUROPÉEN DES NÉGOCIANTS EN TIMBRES-POSTE VIENNE 23 JUIN 1933"; bottle green cachet with steam passenger train on stone arch viaduct; same design as the 1933 WIPA labels)

HG-KX101 10g+12g indicia 10g orange, plane & pilot's head, as #C16 & 12g blue-green, Traunsee Lake, as #341; cachet, steam train (see note immediately below).

Note: The Higgins & Gage catalog lists this card (sort of) in its "Printed to Private Order" section (that's what the code "KX" on the H&G number means). So it's not really an official card, and unfortunately, H&G describes only the inidicia, so for this all we can say is that the H&G number shown does match the indicia on the item. Whatever its provenance, it is too nice to omit.

For more about WIPA, see my web page on WIPA Cinderellas, including more of the postcards.

This is NOT the card described at right, but still another variety of postal indicium, supplemented with stamps.
WIPA postal card - 1933
(Same as item above, but with different indicia)

ATA HB entry:

6/23/1933 Postal Cards - WIPA, 1933 (Inscribed "CONGRES EUROPÉEN DES NÉGOCIANTS EN TIMBRES-POSTE VIENNE 23 JUIN 1933"; bottle green cachet with steam passenger train on stone arch viaduct; same design as the 1933 WIPA labels)

HG-KX105 10g+40g indicia: 10g orange, plane & pilot's head, as #C16 & 40g dark violet, Innsbruck, as #349; cachet, steam train (see note immediately above).

Two more examples - another postal card, and an envelope. From the number of items I have found that do NOT match the HB listings, it appears there are many varieties of postal cards and envelopes with this cachet.

7/11/2013 As I explain on my WIPA cinderellas page (scroll about half way down) it turns out these cards were prepared on demand AT THE WIPA SHOW in Vienna in 1933! One bought the cards at the show, sans postal idicia, then took them to the Austria Post Office display, where the indicia were added while one waited!
