1963 - I think the best translation is "Warsaw Link Railway," (Literally it is Warsaw
Cross Town Line) connecting east and west. The stations shown on the cards, from east to
west are: Ochota, Srodmiescie, Powisle, Stadion (Stadium)
I think my heading "Warsaw Metropolitan Railway" (written many years ago) may be
rather misleading. The word "srednicowa" means diameter.

1976 -
TG: The design is an eight-axle wagon for molten steel.
M.S.: Text means "Huta Katowice - first steel for country in 1976." Katowice is a
highly industrialized city of Poland of over 250000 population. In 1976, Poland was a
communist state. Shortly after Stalin died, 1953, Katowice became Stalinograd, until
1956, and then Katowice again, when Stalin was downgraded by Khrushchev.
W.S.: The factory named "Huta Katowice" was founded by the Polish government in 1974 to
produce rolled steel, so apparently it started production in 1976, and this card
celebrated that. One of its main products was steel rails for railroads, so that helps
explain the image.
TG:As for EDYTA, I thought it might be a mnemonic for something but I have come to the
conclusion it is the Polish equivalent for Edith!
