EL SALVADOR

El Salvador is like Nicaragua and Guatemala, in that all its early postal stationery products used indicia with trains, and were produced in many format, denominations, sizes, etc., so I suspect the items shown here are just a small part of the total available.

PCs - 1891 - H&G 9-13 with rectangular indicium showing San Miguel volcano in back, steam locomotive in front, indicium has same design as Scott 47-56

H&G 9: 1 ¢ (shown)
H&G 10: 2 ¢(shown)
H&G 11: 3 ¢(shown)
H&G 12: 2+2 reply(shown)
H&G 13: 3+3 reply(shown)

Envelopes - 1891 - H&G B14-20 with oval indicium, San Miguel volcano in back, steam locomotive in front, indicium has design similar to Scott 47-56

H&G B14: 1 ¢ pale violet (shown on salmon paper + CS on cream)
H&G B15: 2 ¢ red (shown on cream paper + CS on cream)
H&G B16: 5 ¢ brown (not shown + CS on cream and salmon)
H&G B17: 10 ¢ green (shown on blue paper + CS on cream)
H&G B18: 11 ¢ orange yellow (shown on cream paper + CS on cream)
H&G B19: 20 ¢ rose carmine (shown on blue paper + CS on cream)
H&G B20: 22 ¢ dark brown (shown on white paper + CS on cream)
(various colors and sizes are available)

CS = Cut Square - cut squares were once the most popular way to collect envelopes. They are a lot easier to mount in an album, and show the key element, the postage. Today "entires" are more popular.

Wrappers - 1891 - H&G Exxx with oval indicium, San Miguel volcano in back, steam locomotive in front, indicium has design similar to Scott 47-56

H&G Exx: 3 ¢ blue (CS shown on salmon paper)
H&G Exx: 6 ¢ green (CS shown on salmon paper)
H&G Exx: 12 ¢ brown (2 shades of CS shown on salmon paper)

Actually I am just assuming these are from wrappers, I haven't had a chance to consult H&G, but the envelope listing don't include these denominations, so I'm guessing they are from wrappers.
