Good ole Tonka. They came long after my childhood,
so when I started collecting these police cars I had just a vague idea of their products.
I pictured large, heavy, durable models that would not fit into my collection.

It turns out they have made some smaller diecast, but most of it is kid-oriented, distorted to make it look cool (I guess), and decorated in bright, eye-catching designs and themes.

But I have bought a few. They are larger, 1:55 rather than 1:64, and heavy, in keeping with their reputation for durability. But they tend to be affordable, at least.

AND in typical incestuous diecast company style, Tonka = Funrise = Maisto = Hasbro, etc etc etc. (From diecastgarage.org)
