Air Env - 6 k blue ind of no rail interest; cachet with image of funicular railway in Sochi Sochi, a seaport, and health resort city in the Russian Riviera on the northeastern shore of the Black Sea, is famous for its two funiculars. With a 2000 population of about 320,000, it is the largest city in a primarily agricultural region near the border with Belarus. One of the oldest cities in Russia, it has a history of invasion and heroics. DL |

Built primarily during the period 1974-1989, and designated "complete" several times, most recently in November, 2003, the BAM was hailed as the greatest railroad project of all time.
