INTRODUCTION

What was the PPIE?

What are poster stamps?

PPIE Poster stamps for:

 -  Official publicity
 -  General souvenirs
 -  Exhibitor promotion
 -  Local promotion
 -  Foreign
 -  Awards
 -  Railroads
 -  Events
 -  Other

RAILROADS

The stamps on this page were issued by railroads to publicize their routes to the West. Most people who traveled any distance to the fair went by rail, so it was just a question of which route they took. From the East Coast it would have taken a week.

Most of these were part of sets, printed as sheetlets like the one for the SOO LINE, but absent examples, I have chosen to show just the Stamps that actually mention the PPIE.

Old Faithful Inn was both a hotel at Yellowstone National Park AND a restaurant in the Union Pacific exhibit at the PPIE.
The six stamps show the Union Pacific's PPIE exhibit, which depicted Yellowstone.
