I began accumulating labels from the Olympic Games more or less by accident. I
bought collections to get other material, and the Olympics tagged along.
Eventually I had enough that it got my attention, so I acquired a copy of Robert
J DuBois' Catalog of Olympic Labels and got a little more serious.
That was about twenty-five years ago, as of 2018, and these pages are the result. I enjoy
Olympics material, and wanted to share it. Moreover, much as I like
the DuBois Catalog, its images are in black and white, and sometimes they are a
bit murky. So I hope my efforts here will fill that void, by providing images
of the actual items, online, and in living color.
To date (12/17/18) I have managed to get a nearly complete collection here of what
was in the DuBois catalog - click on STILL MISSING to see what these pages lack.
In addition, I have found many additions to the DuBois catalog - I have not done
a count, but I would say this updated catalog comprises at least 25% more entries
than Bob's.
IF YOU CAN ADD TO THESE LISTINGS IN ANY WAY, please send images
or information to
Please note that these pages are not about Olympics postage stamps - there are
other
sites that display those. Nor do I show medals, statistics, postcards,
or other Olympics ephemera and souvenirs.
As for what is included in, and what is excluded from these pages, please
read
"Introduction: What is a label?" from the DuBois catalog. Bob was a bit
more
inclusive than I would have been, and I note in many places on these pages when
I disagree with his choices.

PRICING: The prices shown in the DuBois catalog were his estimates of retail
values at the time he published the catalog - 1986.
Prices today may be either higher or lower - watch eBay and other auction
sites for guidance.

11/10/2018 -
I have added above a link to my pdf scan of Dick Green's "A Catalog of Poster stamps of the
Olympic Games." Poster Stamp Publishing Co., Chicago, IL. 1940, 18pp -
scanned from the pages of the Poster Stamp Bulletin.
It is listed on Bob's References page as one of his sources. Feel free to download it.
I apologize for the varying resolution, but I did not have originals of all the
Bulletins, so some are lower-res from the www. Use the ZOOM feature and you should be able
to enlarge those pages enough to read them with ease. :-)
6/15/2020 - I have added above a link to a pdf scan of Ernest Trory's
"A Philatelic History of the Olympic Games." It was one of DuBois' primary sources,
It lists labels through 1936, and he planned two more sections, taking it through 1947,
but as far as I know he never published those.

web site of Sports Philatelists International. JOIN!)
8/10/2023 - collectorJohn Pratt sent me this link, to pages from Bob DuBois' Xmas Seal
Collection (he and his wife were very active in that area) - it describes how Bob
got started as a collector.
