National, regional, and local Esperanto organizations and events
Esperanto promotion stamps, USA, 1926
According to the website of
the UEA
(the international Esperanto organization), the Esperanto movement has
members in 120 countries. The first
Esperanto club was formed in 1888, in Nuremberg, one year after Dr Zamnhof published his
manifesto on the language.
Today there are hundreds of such clubs around the world -
The web site of Esperanto USA lists 42 clubs in this country alone.
And since the purpose of Esperanto is basically social, Esperantists have held all sorts of meetings from the very start.
Prague, 1909
Esperanto poster stamps have been issued for over a century by local
clubs, and for local, regional and national Esperanto organizations and conferences.
The number of different stamps for all these organizations and events is far too great for me to display them all here - this is not a catalog,
just a quick overview of Esperanto poster stamps. Below are an assortment of examples demonstrating the wide range of the movement.
