Workers' Gymnastic Union - Delnicka Telocvicne Jednoty - DTJ (Click on any image to view an enlarged version)
In 1897, displeased with the capitalist political goals of Sokol,
socialist Sokols split off to form the
"Delnicka Telocvicne Jednoty,"
or Workers' Gymnastic Union, which participated in the Slets to some extent, but
also held its own competitions. In 1920 it joined with other Socialist
groups in Europe in forming
Socialist Workers' Sport International (SASI), whose
main purpose was to organize so-called
"Workers' Olympics" as a Socialist
alternative to the bourgeois, capitalist Olympic Games.
Three of those alternative Olympics were held, in 1925, 1931, and 1937 -
and additional local and regional events were held under the sponsorship
of the organization -

In addition, the DTJ held events on its own, in 1921, 1927, and 1934.
Postcards and poster stamps were produced for some of these events.
